A Short Film Competition ? |
I was wondering if there has ever been a short film competition on this site. Competition, praise, or whatever you want to call it seems to be an integral part of this site. I think it would be cool if someone (like myself) would organize a film contest that centered on a theme. In theory it might work by all the interested parties would signing up and then get emailed the theme to offer equal time. A deadline would have to be in place, and the winner would receive pride and admiration. Where else but the Open Source movies could behold such a feat. Though, alas, I am but a dreamer and know not the limitations. I'll work on it though if this seems popular.

Good idea But I posted similar idea in Prelinger site two months ago |
please let us have a choice of at least three themes. Limiting it to 1 theme might eliminate film-makers who might find that theme boring or repugnant

Re: A Short Film Competition ? |
There was a contest, now seemingly buried in the archive (they're running out of room in the headers menu!) called 'World At War' There was an online poll and a live audience poll too to pick the winner. Not too sure of how this was put together,,

There was some discussion a while back of another contest like "World at War", but I have the feeling that the fine folks at the Archive may be too occupied with day-to-day issues to get something like this going...bless their hearts.

Trafalgar .. I suggested in a post on the Prelinger Site ,several months ago, that a competition could be good. Rick in reply invited feedback from forum members.

Re: A Short Film Competition ? |
Were you guys considering doing a from-scratch short film competition, or one that would re-use Prelinger material? I'll try to bring this up with some other people at the Archive and see if we could set up something. In the meantime, you're welcome to go ahead as planned - I'm presuming we could help mainly by setting up a stand-alone collection or messageboard, if we did something.
Regards,
Simon.

Good. This seemed to generate some interest. the only problem is that I still need judges and entries. I think three judges should be enough and since I probably can't think of a subject and compete I'll probably judge. Interested Parties please Email

Re: A Short Film Competition ? |
Sounds great. No way I'll win or anything, but I'd love to participate or at least watch.
